Axyl Pisino — Community Advocate, Disability Activist, and Funding Strategist for a Better West Virginia

Building systems that uplift, not exploit. Fighting for the people who’ve been forgotten. Designing programs that actually change lives.

I’m Axyl — a blind, disabled community advocate working to transform West Virginia from the inside out. My work centers rural revitalization, disability justice, economic dignity, and community power. I help nonprofits, small towns, and grassroots organizers access funding and build programs that make real impact.

Because our people deserve more than survival — they deserve a future.

What I do

Grant Writing + Funding Strategy

Helping organizations secure funding to grow, rebuild, and serve their communities.

Program Design for Rural + Disability-Centered Initiatives

Creating programs that are fundable, sustainable, and rooted in community needs.

Disability Advocacy + Accessibility Consulting

Ensuring programs, services, and public systems include all of us — not just the abled few.

Community Development + Policy Insight

Supporting towns and grassroots groups fighting for housing, food security, infrastructure, and economic stability.

Why I fight

I was born a micro-preemie at 15 ounces, survived against every odd, grew up poor and disabled in a state abandoned by politicians, and built my own path by refusing to disappear.

I fight because West Virginia deserves more.

I fight because disabled people deserve more.

I fight because our communities should not be written off.

I’m here to rebuild what neglect and exploitation tried to destroy.
